Step by step process
Ecuador is set to participate in the U17 FIFA World Cup™ in 2023 in Indonesia, the main idea behind the artwork was to showcase the expectation while also creating a "far from home" vibe to the final image.
For this piece the first step was to sketch a very rough idea and after researching some Indonesian landmarks the Handara Gate was perfect to portray this idea. From there the pieces of the background came together easily, with the focus in trying to make the stadium look like it was in the middle of the jungle behind the gates. For the player, picking one of the starters and using Ecuador's current jersey was key so multiple pieces had to be used to finish the subject.
